    STAYING HEALTHY

A  parsimonious farmer once had a mule.  He knew the mule was a real work-
horse, but he wanted to save money by getting the mule to live on excelsior (wood
shavings).  He sprinkled broken green glass on the grass to trick the mule into
choosing to eat excelsior instead.  The mule did in fact learn to live on excelsior.
Then the farmer complained that he did not get any work out of the mule, since the
mule died.  This story should inspire us that we need to take good care of our
physical body that we cannot succeed without.

If one person can do more each day and live longer, the person already gives himself/
     herself
MORE OPPORTUNITIES than his/her competitors.  Do you agree?
To stay healthy saves us money, time, effort, opportunities or even lives.  All of these
losses can increase the stress in our lives.

A study indicated that the following factors can prolong our longevity: healthy weight,
blood pressure, blood sugar level, cholesterol level, diet, smoking, exercise, high
education and marriage.  These are a part of good measures.

Staying Healthy part teaches you, without picking up a stethoscope or entering a health
career, how to eat healthy, stay fit, sleep well, and prevent common illnesses; how to
select specialists, including in herbs and acupuncture, and how to work with doctors
and hospitals, fully utilize different medical systems, and avoid costly mistakes.

Health is not independent from our mind and stress management.  Unhealthy thinking
can lead to severe health consequences.  For example, one lady refused to accept a
breast cancer diagnosis as well as second opinion.  When she came back a month
later, the cancer had already spread.

Stress can afffect our health directly and indirectly.  Some people use food as
"anti-depressants" and gain weight rapidly.  Being overweight can cause more health
problems, such as Diabetes and Hypertension.
